Healthy Eating

1 06 2008

The school’s canteen has changed a lot in the past year and we are contemplating adding more heathy options. What do you think of this? Do you want to see even more Healthy Eating options in our canteen?

oh come on, there’s a point when even jamie oliver would complain.

We have reached it.

I am quite content eating a jacket potato and cheese for the rest of my life.

Bring back curly fries ! there was no need for them to leave.

The healthy eating thing is quite good, and its not as bad as most people think, we still get cakes and cookies which are available all the time.

Plus, ‘chip day’ is getting a bit ridiculous, and quite savage. The queue becomes horrendous.

The paninis are served at quite an awkward place too. A lot of people buy them, so it would be better if there was a special place that sold just paninis, to avoid the squash you get trying to push through.

I used to think that the new ‘healthy’ food in the canteen was really bad and bland. Recently however I have been going to the canteen and finding that the food is actually really really nice and much better than the old stuff. Most of the time I find myself going back for more :D

i really dont mind the food, infact it’s pretrty nice. but i find it a bit hypocrytical when the canteen wont sell things like ice lolly’s in the summer, but they still sell cake. ice lolly’s are healthier and better for the warm summer (not that we have really had one but you get my drift)

I think healthy eating is good but its gone a bit far, the hot meals are ok but the snacks in breaks are pointless. Hardly anyone likes them and they therefore are hungry until lunch time which could cause lack of concentration.

I think that they are abusing our student rights by taking away the chocolates

We were discussing this a few days ago.
If your gonna be healthy you might aswell sell decent healthy stuff like snack a jacks and Go Ahead bars.

RE Elyssaa.

Im all for the Snack-a-Jacks!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t really eat in the canteen, however why can’t people with packed lunches eat in there? theres never any room in the cloister because of pasta people.
And I don’t think the new canteen system works, the queue always seems to be just as long, I like the way it has been halved at the hatch though :)

i remember one year when they sold ice lollies. it was so cool and you could just go in and buy one and then go to the field. Cant remember how long ago it was though…god i remember chocolate doughnuts and curly fries…

In my day you could buy a cheeseburger chips a can of coke and still have change from two quid.

Now the prices are a rip off really for what the food is, it’s cheaper and tastier to walk to greggs and buy it.

Hello, I think they should bring ‘diet’ soft drinks and they should be 50p
We are paying too much for drinks at school and they arn’t even that good.

i think that the answer to everybodys anger about the food school sells is to bring a packed lunch !!
then you dont have to waste money on food, queue for extensive periods of time and you can eat what you want….its a win win situation :D

I know healthy eating is important but, the food isn’t as nice. I say stick with curry and chips. We can always exercise later!!!!!!

It depends on the person, really. The thought of a burger revolts me and chips are amongst the most evil thing ever created XD I’d always rather see something with at least one vegetable in.

Besides, a curry can be healthy. It just depends how it’s made! You can quite easily make a good curry from tinned tomatoes, a couple of chopped peppers, a few cloves of garlic and a bit of curry powder. Add some grilled chicked and bam – you’ve got a healthy curry. All you then need to do is serve it with basmati rice – forget all of this chips nonsense!

As for diet soft drinks – not the best idea. Whilst, granted, they’re lower in sugar, they much higher in additives and sweetners which are essentially just as harmful if not more so. In fact, one of the most common sweetners in British Diet Soft drinks (Aspartame) is actually banned in many countries around the world, due to its links to brain tumours and other such health risks.
