Charity Money!
As we all know, Urmston Grammar School regularly gives raises money for charity, whether it’s through non-uniform days, talent shows or school fairs. For the first time, the School Council has been given the privilege of allocating the money to whichever charities we wish! It is quite a substantial sum, so the Council agreed to split it between several charities – which charities we choose, however, is down to you!
We want your suggestions – should it be the NSPCC, the RSPCA, the Marie Curie Cancer Foundation, or a different charity? Ideas that we had at School Council were:
- A Wildlife Trust, such as Monkey World in Dorset, or Borneo Orangutan Survival UK or similar such group
- A Cancer Research Group
- A Cancer Hospice
- Oxfam
But, we need your suggestions too – after all, this is your School Council, and we want you to have the biggest say! So, fire away! Any serious suggestion will be taken on board!

Heyy people, the above link is to the webiste of one of the charities listed above called Borneo Orangutan Survival UK. If any of you are really interested in these beautiful creatures then visit their website or you can watch their T.V series. It is on at 8.00 every wednesday on BBC 2.
And if anybody wants any more information i have been sent lots of links by one of the Charity’s staff.
Thanks
Personally I think it should go to a Cancer research group, but thats just one guys oppinion
^ Sounds good to me! Well, as I said, there is a lot of money, so we could easily add the Cancer Research Group and Orangutan group
Any others, folks?!
An idea that we had in School Council was to go for something that can be physically seen? We thought this may be more appropriate for a School Cause! What do you think? Or, is any good cause worth our money?
